Bio
Hooks. Melody. Momentum.
Eldersea is an alt-punk band based in Chicago, blending the urgency of punk rock with the melodic pull of pop punk and the atmosphere of alternative rock. Founded by Francis “Frankie” Ciccarelli, the band writes songs that feel restless and immediate, balancing sharp hooks with emotional weight. Eldersea is currently in the studio working on their first full-length album, following the release of their second EP, Ahab, which marked a major step forward for the band.
The project began years earlier as a solo writing outlet in Ciccarelli’s hometown of Worcester, Massachusetts, where the earliest versions of Eldersea’s songs took shape. After relocating to the Chicago area, Ciccarelli released the band’s first single, Stateside, in June 2022. As the songs grew more defined, Eldersea solidified with the addition of bassist Dave Ratzek and drummer Connor Butler, whose precision and intensity brought the material fully to life.
Influenced by a wide emotional and musical spectrum, Eldersea pulls from the raw honesty of bands like Alkaline Trio and Bayside, the cinematic restraint of Orville Peck, and the timeless melodic instincts of doo-wop and Motown groups from the 1950s and 60s. That mix of grit, drama, and classic songwriting shapes a sound that feels both familiar and unplaceable, rooted in punk energy but carried by melodies built to last.
This balance came into focus with Ahab and will be pushed dynamically further with each release, as Eldersea continues to explore wider emotional range and contrast without losing urgency. New music is on the horizon. Listen, follow along, and reach out for booking, press inquiries, or to stay connected as the next chapter takes shape.
